Indian Seafarers Face Harrowing Ordeal Amidst Conflict in Iran

Indian sailor Tithi Chiranjeevi recently recounted a traumatic experience that unfolded while he and his crew were stranded in Iran for over a month. Their vessel was caught in the turmoil of the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, which led to a blockade near the strategic Strait of Hormuz. The situation became increasingly dire as nightly explosions from drones and missiles rattled the crew, leaving them in a state of constant fear.

Chiranjeevi described the harrowing nights spent near the port of Khorramshahr, where the sounds of missiles landing became a grim backdrop to their daily lives. “Around 10 to 20 missiles struck every night. The constant threat of violence and the struggle for survival had taken a toll on him and his crewmates. “We are safe now, but the memories of those nights will stay with us for a long time,” he remarked.
