CLEVELAND, Ohio — The state of Ohio on Friday reported 594 new cases of COVID-19, extending the streak of days under 1,000 to eight days.
The total COVID-19 case count since early 2020 has now reached 2,663,019.
Ohio’s death toll since the beginning of the pandemic now stands at 37,410, up 198 since the last report. COVID-19 deaths are reported twice a week, on Tuesdays and Fridays, though often the deaths being reported are weeks old.
A total of 7,258,161 Ohioans have received at least one vaccination, representing about 65.9% of Ohioans age 5 and up.
Since the beginning of 2021, there have been 22,417 deaths among people reported as unvaccinated, and 1,174 among people reported to be fully vaccinated. And there have been 64,693 hospitalized Ohioans who were not fully vaccinated, and 4,397 fully vaccinated people hospitalized. Updates are normally provided each Thursday.
The state does not report for COVID-19 cases whether people were vaccinated.

The total cases being reported recently likely are understated, as some people do not report at-home tests and others may not be testing at all.
Starting Monday, the state will change its daily updates to the COVID-19 dashboard to weekly updates.
