A 7-year-old boy was shot in the back Monday while riding inside of a vehicle, police say.
The shooting took place about midnight on Granger Avenue, near East 141st Street. While on the scene, police learned that the boy was taken to Cleveland Clinic South Pointe Hospital in Warrensville Heights. He had been shot in the lower back, police said.
The boy was transferred to Rainbow Baby and Children’s Hospital in Cleveland, and he is in stable condition, police said.
Police found several shell casings at the scene. It appears that a second vehicle was involved. Police did not say if there was a motive for the shooting.
No arrests have been made. The suspect’s car was described to police as a silver or white four-door vehicle.
