AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man was sentenced to life in prison Wednesday after he pleaded guilty to the rape of an 8-year-old child.
Christopher Wilkes, 38, will be eligible for parole after 10 years, but he will have to register as a Tier 3 sex offender if he is released, according to Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh’s office. Wilkes pleaded guilty to three counts of rape.
According to the prosecutor’s office, Wilkes sexually assaulted the child from January 2017 to May 2018. In May 2018, the victim told an adult family friend about the assaults and also a school staff member. The school official reported the assaults to Stark County Family Services.
