CLEVELAND, Ohio — It’s official: the Cleveland International Film Festival will return as an in-person event in 2022. CIFF46 will take place at its new home at Playhouse Square on March 30-April 10.
The change of venue was supposed to take place this year, but the COVID-19 pandemic changed those plans. The festival’s previous home, the since-closed Tower City Cinemas, hosted the event for 29 years from 1991-2019.
The festival was held virtually the past years. The format proved to be such a hit — CIFF45 attracted over 102,400 viewers — the 46th edition will offer both in-person and online offerings.
“The Cleveland International Film Festival is excited to reinvent itself once again as we plan our first hybrid Festival,” said CIFF Executive Director Marcie Goodman in a press release. “CIFF continues to evolve because of the hearts and hands of our community, which unflinchingly hold us up.”
The festival, which typically presents more than 300 feature films and short films from across the globe, is now accepting submissions for 2022. Filmmakers can find more information on the eligibility requirements at clevelandfilm.org/call-for-entries.
