CUYAHOGA FALLS, Ohio — A man is accused of killing his male pit bull and tossing him into a dumpster Saturday morning, Cuyahoga Falls police said.
Darol Vinson, 57, of Cuyahoga Falls, is charged with prohibitions concerning companion animals, a fifth-degree felony, and cruelty to animals, a first-degree misdemeanor, according to a news release from Cuyahoga Falls police.
Court records do not say when Vinson will make his first appearance. He is currently in Summit County Jail.
Police got a call shortly before 6 a.m. about a dog that had been killed and tossed in a dumpster on Prange Drive just north of Graham Road, the release says.
Officers found the dog in the dumpster. It was already dead and showing “obvious signs of trauma,” the release says.
Police conducted an investigation and located the owner, later identified as Vinson. The investigation revealed Vinson was responsible for the dog’s death, the release says.
The dog was taken to a veterinarian to be evaluated for the cause of his death.
