MYRTLE BEACH, South Carolina — A performer at a haunted house was wounded when he was shot by man who was going through the attraction with a group of people.
Police say Keal Latrell Brown is charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor in connection with the incident at the Hollywood Wax Museum Haunted House, but additional charges are likely.
Brown and several others were going through the haunted house Saturday when they were scared by the performer, police say. A person in the group fell down and a handgun reportedly slid back and hit Brown in the foot. Brown tells police he thought the gun was a prop and fired twice, hitting the performer in the shoulder.
According to the Associated Press, authorities say Brown was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor because he gave the gun to a 15-year-old after firing it, even through he was told it was real.
The performer spoke at the suspect’s bond hearing and said the man looked at him before firing and since the shooting, he is struggling to work and can’t sleep.
Police said they are still trying to determine where the gun came from.
