Lewis F. Mayer Middle School Stagecrafters to Present Inaugural Student Production

Lewis F. Mayer Middle School is set to make history with its very first student-led production, “The Day the Internet Died.” Scheduled for performances on Saturday, March 2, at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 3, at 2 p.m., the play promises to deliver a unique blend of humor and commentary on the modern reliance on technology.

The engaging storyline features a group of middle school students grappling with a sudden and catastrophic disruption of their internet access. As the characters navigate their newfound challenges without the digital world they have come to rely on, they experience a range of emotions—panic, confusion, and ultimately, a rediscovery of the joys of life offline. The narrative is both relatable and entertaining for audiences of all ages, addressing the potential fallout of a tech-dependent society in a lighthearted manner.

The Stagecrafters club, comprised of students from various grades, has been working diligently under the guidance of their drama teacher, Mrs. Kelly Thompson. “This production is a testament to the creativity and teamwork of our students,” said Thompson. “They have poured their hearts into bringing this story to life, and I am incredibly proud of their hard work and dedication.”

The cast of “The Day the Internet Died” includes a diverse group of talented young actors. The characters range from the tech-savvy student who struggles to function without the internet to the class clown who finds humor in the chaos. Each role highlights the students’ acting abilities while exploring significant themes about friendship, resilience, and the importance of human connection.

To support the budding artists, the school has organized a series of fundraising events leading up to the performances. Proceeds will help cover production costs, including costumes, set design, and promotional materials. The community is encouraged to attend and support the students in this exciting venture. Tickets will be available for purchase at the school’s main office and at the door on performance days.

This inaugural production not only aims to entertain but also to foster a sense of community and appreciation for the performing arts within the school. The Stagecrafters club hopes that this experience will inspire more students to get involved in theater, nurturing their creativity and confidence for years to come.

As the curtain rises on this innovative play, the Lewis F. Mayer Middle School community is eager to witness its students shine on stage, showcasing their talents and sharing a compelling story that resonates in today’s digital age.
