A 32-year-old man was killed when he was shot multiple times late Monday night in the basement of a home in East Akron, police say.
The Summit County Medical Examiner’s Office says Derrick Fischer was pronounced dead at the home on the 1000 block of Cole Avenue at about 12:17 a.m. Tuesday. Police say no arrests have been made.
Officers were called to the home at about 11:55 p.m. Monday. Detectives believe the unknown suspect arrived at the home just minutes before the shooting.
The shooting is the 13th homicide this year in Akron, according to police. Just hours later on Tuesday, the city recorded its 14th homicide when a 15-year-old boy was fatally shot outside a home in the Sherbondy Hill neighborhood.
