CLEVELAND, Ohio – As part of its founders week celebration, Markko Vineyard will hold a vintage tasting event Saturday, April 30.
The winery, founded in 1968, will hold two small-group vertical tastings led by Markko Vineyard winemaker Lauren Fiala in the wine cellar.
Tastings are at 1 p.m. (Chardonnay) and 3 p.m. (Cabernet Sauvignon).
Each features a barrel sample, three vintage bottle samples, three samples off the current list, plus charcuterie board. Each tasting is $40 and limited to 12 people.
Registration required. Email cheers@markko.com, call 440-593-3197, or go online.
The winery is at 4500 S. Ridge Road W, Conneaut. It’s about 7 miles west of the Pennsylvania border.
The winery is about 65 miles east of Cleveland. Note: Google Maps will take you to the vineyards, not the tasting room.
The winery’s directions: From the west, take I-90 east. Get off at exit 235 (Ohio 193) and head north 1/2 mile to the first stop light, Main Street. Turn right (you’ll be heading east) on South Ridge Road for approximately 3 miles. You will be close when the road turns to gravel. The Markko sign will be on the left; take the driveway into the woods. The tasting room will be on the right. Note: If you see vineyards, you missed the driveway.
