The weekly number of COVID-19 cases in Ohio has dropped below 10,000 for the first time since April. The new cases dropped to 9,997 this week, from 12,101 last week.
The state of Ohio on Thursday reported the new cases of COVID-19 in its weekly dashboard update.
Ohio has been over 10,000 cases per week every week since the beginning of May. Cases peaked for the summer on July 28 at 29,876. The numbers began dropping in August, and except for an uptick in late August, have steadily dropped.
This week’s case total averages to about 1,428 cases per day over seven days.
Total reported COVID-19 deaths since the beginning of the pandemic were 39,856.
The total COVID-19 case count since early 2020 has now reached 3,153,743.
A total of 7,480,468 Ohioans have received at least one vaccination, representing about 67.6% of Ohioans age 5 and up.
Since the beginning of 2021, there have been 24,946 deaths among people reported as unvaccinated, and 1,383 among people reported to be fully vaccinated. And there have been 77,491 hospitalized Ohioans who were not fully vaccinated, and 5,753 fully vaccinated people hospitalized.
The state does not report for COVID-19 cases whether people were vaccinated.
