A federal judge sentenced a man to 20 years in prison for creating child pornography, including using a hidden camera in a bathroom to secretly record children.
Timothy Wright, 50, of Dublin, Ohio, also will spend 10 years on supervised released once he completes his prison sentence. Wright pleaded guilty in June to producing and possessing child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Ohio.
Prosecutors say Wright took advantage of at least five victims. He installed a hidden camera in a bathroom of his home and recorded two minors, using the recordings to create child pornography. Investigators found 27 videos and 157 photos of the children on Wright’s cellphone.
On several occasions, he paid three other minors to lie nude on his bed while he performed sex acts with them or masturbated, prosecutors say. He admitted he paid the minors at least $300 each time, prosecutors say. Wright also paid them for nude photos and videos.
Wright was arrested in September 2021.
“Exploiting minors does irreparable harm to the victims and their families,” U.S. Attorney Kenneth Parker said in a statement. “Wright’s abuse was especially perverse and children in central Ohio are safer with him incarcerated for 20 years.”
