أعلن المركز الأمريكي لمكافحة الأمراض والوقاية منها حظرا لمدة عام على استيراد الكلاب من 113 دولة، من بينها مصر، بسبب مخاوف من داء الكلب.
وينطبق الحظر على جميع الكلاب، بما في ذلك كلاب الدعم العاطفي، والكلاب التي كانت توجد في أي دولة ترتفع فيها مخاطر وجود داء الكلب، خلال الأشهر الستة الماضية.
ويأتي هذا الإعلان وسط قفزة في استيراد الكلاب، ارتبطت بزيادة تبني الكلاب طوال فترة الوباء.
وقال مركز السيطرة على الأمراض والوقاية منها إن مئات من هذه الكلاب كان لديها شهادات مزورة بخلوها من داء الكلب.
وأضاف في بيان “هذا الإجراء ضروري لضمان صحة الكلاب المستوردة إلى الولايات المتحدة وسلامتها، ولحماية الصحة العامة من إعادة إدخال أنواع مختلفة من فيروس داء الكلب”.
