نُقلت امرأة أسترالية كانت زعمت أنها تعرضت للاغتصاب في البرلمان، إلى مستشفى حيث تتلقى علاجا نفسيا.
وكانت بريتاني هيجينز، البالغة من العمر 26 عاما، ضمن فريق العمل مع اثنين من الوزراء الأستراليين.
وأُدخلت هيجينز إلى المستشفى يوم الخميس، بحسب أحد أصدقائها الذي قال لوسائل إعلام محلية إنها تحتاج إلى وقت للتعافي بعد “شهور من الضغوط السياسية المتواصلة”.
وأثارت قضية هيجينز غضبا وتساؤلات حول الثقافة الجنسية السائدة في عالم السياسة الأسترالية، وكراهية النساء.
ومنذ أن كشفت هيجينز عن قضيتها في فبراير/شباط، دعت إلى إصلاح الثقافة البرلمانية، كما ألهمت نساء أستراليات أخريات بالتحدث عما يتعرضن له من انتهاكات جنسية، في حملة عُرفت باسم “وأنا أيضا” وقد لاقت رواجًا.
