Amazon Launches Foundayo GLP-1 Pill with Convenient Access Options
Eli Lilly has recently introduced its new GLP-1 weight loss medication, Foundayo, making it readily available through Amazon One Medical kiosks. This initiative allows patients to obtain prescriptions on the same day after a consultation with a healthcare professional, enhancing access to this innovative treatment.
Foundayo is priced at $149 per month for the lowest dosage and can be accessed through the LillyDirect program as well as Amazon Pharmacy, which fulfills prescriptions issued by LillyDirect. Unlike other GLP-1 medications that require refrigeration, Foundayo’s pill form allows it to be stored safely in kiosks, broadening access for patients. Tanvi Patel, a vice president at Amazon Pharmacy, emphasized that this convenience is aimed at easing barriers to medication access and reducing delivery fees.
The kiosks, operational since 2025, are currently located in California and have been stocking Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy pills since January. With five kiosks available, Amazon’s strategy is to expand this model beyond California in the coming year, with plans to collaborate with external health systems to extend the reach of these services.
For individuals seeking immediate medication delivery, Amazon offers same-day shipping for Foundayo through Lilly’s prescribing partners, including WW International and GoodRx. Amazon aims to increase the number of locations for same-day delivery to over 4,500 by the end of this year, making it even more accessible.
Foundayo is the second GLP-1 medication to receive FDA approval in pill form. For patients with commercial insurance, the medication could cost as little as $25 per month. Those enrolled in Medicare Part D may be eligible to receive Foundayo for $50 a month starting in July.
Dr. Zhaoping Li, chief of the Division of Clinical Nutrition at UCLA Health, expressed enthusiasm about the introduction of Foundayo, stating, “It is great to have new tools added to our toolbox to deal with obesity.” The medication starts at a dosage of 0.8 milligrams (mg) and can increase based on patient response and tolerance, with potential dosages reaching up to 17.2 mg.
The convenience of a pill format over injections is highlighted by Dr. Mir Ali, a bariatric surgeon, who noted that the oral option is preferable for many patients, particularly due to its ease of use and lack of refrigeration requirements.
As Foundayo becomes available, individuals interested in exploring this weight loss option are encouraged to consult their healthcare providers for personalized advice and eligibility.
